COMPARTMENT PRESSURE TESTING

You may be referred by your doctor for Compartment Pressure Testing should you have activity related lower limb pain, especially if it does not respond to conservative management.

Our Sport and Exercise Physicians, Paul Blackman , Andrew Jowett and Krishant Naidu are trained in Compartment Pressure Testing and can perform these in the clinic using our onsite musculoskeletal ultrasound to help guide the procedure. From this test, we can determine whether you have the diagnosis of Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A GP or medical specialist referral is required to see a Sport and Exercise Physician for a Compartment Pressure Test. GP referrals are valid for 12 months from the date of your visit one of our Sport and Exercise Physicians. Other medical specialist referrals are valid for 3 months from the date of your first visit to one of our Sport and Exercise Physicians.

  • Patients please bring in with you:
    • ALL previous imaging (films and reports) relevant to your presenting condition
    • Blood tests results
    • Any referrals from your GP and other treating practitioners
    • Comfortable clothes to change into should you need to be examined by your doctor. You may be required to go for a run prior to your test to bring on your symptoms

Compartment Pressure tests generally take between 45-60 minutes.

All consultations are Medicare rebateable provided you have a valid GP or specialist medical referral. It is up to the patient to ensure their current referral is up to date. The Compartment Pressure test also attracts a partial Medicare rebate.

Your consultation and indeed, your Compartment Pressure Test will not be eligible for a rebate through your Private Health Insurance.
