Having worked both in private practice and with elite sporting teams for over 25 years,Dr Tim Barbour is a highly experienced Sport and Exercise Physician. Tim is dedicated to providing his patients and athletes with detailed assessment, diagnoses and management plans to facilitate their goals in achieving an active and healthy lifestyle.

Having had extensive involvement in both Track and Field and Australian Rules Football, Tim has a broad understanding of injuries concerned with these sports. Further research has been undertaken in the study of lower limb compartment syndrome, a common condition seen in runners.Tim has worked previously with Richmond Football Club (2007-2002) and as Chief Medical Officer to Athletics Australia (2003-2008), being Team Doctor to National Teams for two Olympic campaigns, two World Championships and the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. During his tenure he also served on the Athletics Australia Anti Doping Commission.In late 2007 he became Medical Officer to the St Kilda Football Club, a position he has held fondly until recently stepping down at the completion of the 2025 season.Tim plans to dedicate more time to his private practice, assisting patients of all ages and fitness levels to maintain an exercise program for both physical and psychological benefit.Tim enjoys interacting with his colleagues in the multidisciplinary setting that OPSMC offers, along with contributing as a Clinical Training Supervisor to the education of the clinic’s registrars.
