Peter Malliaras is an expert in tendinopathy management and rehabilitation. He completed his undergraduate physiotherapy degree at La Trobe University in 1996. His PhD, completed in 2006, identified novel risk factors for tendinopathy among athletes.
He has since spent five years in the UK undertaking post-doctoral research focusing on tendinopathy imaging and rehabilitation, and consulting to the general public and elite athletes with difficult and non-responsive lower limb tendinopathy. He has been consulted in the rehabilitation of elite premier league football players (e.g. Manchester United FC, Everton FC, Manchester City FC), elite rugby players (e.g. Scotland Rugby world cup 2011 players), the Royal Ballet (London) and top-level English Institute of Sport and United Kingdom track athletes, among others.
Prior to consultant work, Peter worked at the Victorian Institute of Sport, toured nationally and internationally with football, volleyball, basketball and weight lifting, and has been an official team physiotherapist at a Commonwealth Games meet.
